For many years, Leonard Diepenbrock was an integral part of several RTL programs. But what is the former moderator doing now?
Leonard Diepenbrock, 49, worked in the media for 20 years, most of which he spent at RTL. He moderated “Exclusive” and the morning magazines “Punkt 6” and “Punkt 9”. But then he disappeared from the scene.
Leonard Diepenbrock: He runs two companies
After the surprising death of Diepenbrock’s father-in-law in 2000, who was head of the anchor company Tox, the moderator took over management of the company together with his wife Isabelle, 48. Six years later, the 49-year-old was officially appointed managing director, a position he still holds. At first he carried out the activities as a moderator and entrepreneur at the same time, as he now reveals : “For a while I was the dowel boss during the week and I moderated at the weekend.” And further: “My father also died early, from cancer. It sounds cheesy, but I wanted to create something of my own that would make the world a better place.”
That’s why Diepenbrock finally ended his TV career and founded his own company in 2013: Jean&Len, a care and cosmetics line. The label, whose name includes “ohne Gedöns”, creates vegan products that are also free of silicones or parabens, according to the official website. “The road was rocky. There were many setbacks in the first few years. But I like the task of David versus Goliath,” said the former RTL face.
Does he miss the times as a moderator?
In the meantime, however, Jean & Len has long since made a name for itself in the cosmetics world. The “Rosemary/Ginger” hand soap is one of the top-selling hand soaps in Germany. Despite his success as head of two companies, he sometimes misses being a moderator. But he knows how to help himself: “When I need the big stage, I appear as a speaker at business events.”
